Canoeing in the Fall: Kootenay River

When I was a kid there a flower delivery company that’s tagline was “say it with flowers”. I would never turn down a bouquet of flowers; that does say “I love you” to me, but do you know what my number one love language is? ADVENTURE. I know that isn’t even a thing. I made that up!! Being asked to come on adventures with others and inviting people that I care about on adventures with me is the very best in my books.

When we have friends or family visiting you can bet there will be adventures involved. So when my dad turned 70 I had a little celebration idea in my head. He likes canoeing but doesn’t have the skills or experience to take himself out onto a river. So that was to be his celebration – a canoe float down the Kootenay River, with a stop at the confluence of the Bull River for a picnic birthday dinner and cake, with a side serving of the best clouds, majestic mountains, fall colours and perfect reflections!
