Fernie Family Photographer: Don’t Wait for Photos!

I was 22 and freshly married the first time our family got photos taken by a professional photographer. My siblings and I weren’t kids anymore.

In all fairness, it wasn’t through lack of desire. My mum regularly mentioned calling in a family photographer. It was just one of those things we never got around to.

  • Too hard.
  • Too expensive.
  • What photographer do you even call?

And our childhoods whizzed on by. We grew up and left home.

Then a family photographer showed up right under our nose.

The photos from that photoshoot still hang proudly on the wall of my family home. My smiling Mom and Dad in their fifties, their 24-year-old daughter with her husband, their 22-year-old daughter (me!) with her husband and a 20-year-old son are a precious reminder of a wonderful time in our lives.

There is no time like now…

Even if you have long bendy arms and strong selfie skills you need a pro photographer in your life every year or two.

Even if you are exceptionally awesome at propping your phone on a rock and rushing into the frame without smothering your kids before the self-timer beeps into action, you won’t regret hiring a family photographer that can capture wonderful photos AND help you get them printed.

A good number of moms say to me “oh we should get you to take our photos!” And then don’t do anything about it.

I can help right now!

Don’t be like my childhood family where all the kids are gone before you make it happen!

I am a Fernie Family Photographer

but I love to travel and would be happy to come to you if needed. I serve the Elk Valley (Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford), as well as the Crowsnest Pass, the Greater East Kootenays, Canadian Rockies or wherever your heart has dreamed an adventure or vacation 🙂

About the Photos:

Tarah and I have been talking about photographing her family for a year or two. We squeezed in a quick shoot in the field beside their house. The kids arrived home from school and piano lessons afterward would keep our session brief.

Moms often walk away feeling like “how could you get any good photos with my wild/shy ____________ (fill in the blank) family.

Tarah expressed the same after she had visited my studio and seen the slideshow. There are always feelings of emotion, relief and gratefulness at how precious family connection is through the gift of photography.
